Topsoil & Composted Products

Topsoil
Screened Topsoil
One of our most popular products. Our screened topsoil is never manufactured or cut with any other products. Rich with minerals and nutrients, this product is the perfect base for a new garden or lawn, or an existing project that needs an infusion of healthy dirt. We pride ourselves on offering our customers high quality topsoil and we strongly encourage customers to call ahead to check for availability, especially after a few days of rainy weather.
Premium Mix
Our premium mix is made onsite by combining three parts of our screened topsoil and two parts of compost, creating a rich, nutritious soil that’s perfect for growing healthy vegetables and flowers. Light, loose and easy to handle.
Fill
Our fill is a combination of clay, silt, dirt and rocks that’s perfect as a base layer - as opposed to a topsoil layer - to “fill” in a lawn or worksite that requires extra material. We find that different customers use different names or have different expectations for this product, so we strongly encourage customers to visit our landscape supply yard and examine our fill before purchasing.

Composted Products
What is Compost?
Compost is an organic matter that has the unique ability to improve the characteristics of soil and has many benefits and uses.
Compost:
adds a slow release of nutrients
adds beneficial soil organisms, reducing the need to use chemical pesticides
aids in suppressing plant disease pathogens, reducing the need to use chemical fertilizers
increases moisture retention, so you don’t need to water gardens as frequently
helps improve soil structure, porosity, and density
makes any soil easier to work and cultivate
Screened Manure
We partner with a handful of local horse and goat farms to source our manure. Our manure is “aged to perfection,” eliminating any offensive odors. Afterwards, we screen the manure with a ½” wire mesh to remove large debris and clumps. Our end product is a dark, rich, nutritious product that’s a great soil additive for lawns or gardens.
Mushroom Compost
Mushroom compost is NOT made from composting actual mushrooms. Rather, it is the spent material mushrooms are grown in. Made up of - Gypsum, manure and straw, mushroom compost’s pH is about 6.6 nearly neutral.
Mushroom Compost can be used as mulch on top of the ground, around plants and also as a soil additive to add tilth to soil. It is a wonder for holding moisture and works well to break down clay soils. We screen our mushroom compost with a ½” screen to removed large clumps.
Sweet Peet® Organic Mulch
Sweet Peet® is the premium organic mulch for flower and vegetable gardens. Sweet Peet® buffers both acid and alkaline (low and High pH) soils by helping to maintain the desired gardening Sweet Spot. Like most mulches, Sweet Peet® suppresses weeds by smothering the soil.

It is not recommended to plant seeds directly into compost because it holds so much moisture, can waterlog seeds and doesn’t provided subsistence for roots to bind to.
